Facebook would soon add ads to Messenger’s home screen

Facebook has been increasingly getting engrossed with ads. It is now planning on extending such ads to the home screen of Facebook Messenger. For some time, Facebook had tested this feature on Australia and Thailand. Seems the rewards were really handsome and now Facebook is planning on rolling it to the world before the finish of 2017. This would resemble what we see on Instagram and Facebook itself.

In the arrangement, Facebook will allows businesses to target previous customers with sponsored ads most particularly those who have previously sent messages to those businesses.

“[Advertising is] not necessarily everything, but it’s definitely how we’re going to be making money right now,” Messenger head of product Stan Chudnovsky “There are some other business models we are exploring as well, but they’re all around ads one way or another.” Lovely. I’m sure the brands are salivating. You remember back in May, Facebook had cooked the Messenger home screen thoroughly, bringing in more emphasis on chat and shifting games to other tabs.
According to Chudnovsky Facebook will “start slow” pertaining to the introduction of the ads to the home screen in Messenger. “When the average user can be sure to see them we truly don’t know because we’re just going to be very data-driven and user feedback-driven on making that decision.”

This way if we get too disenchanted with these ads on the home screen of our Messenger, guess Facebook might abandon the idea all together. However another way around all these ads stuff as to avoiding them is installing Messenger Lite on Android.
